Our annual Club Picnic was held on Saturday July 11, 2015 at In the Chips.
This years gathering brought lots of talented carvers together to enjoy some good food and even better company.
Spending time with amazing people is half the fun of being part of the club! Every member is willing to lend a helping hand and pass on the knowledge and skill that makes a plane piece of wood turn into a wonderful piece of art.
Not only can we carve, but some of us can whip up some good eats!
Thank you all who attended and hope to do it all again next year!
The 2015 Red River Valley International Wood Arts Festival was a great success and a whole lot of fun!
This years featured artist was Desiree Hajny who was the 2003 Wood Carving Illustrated Woodcarver of the Year. Desiree Hajny has been a full time carver since 1985. Prior to her carving career she was a high school art instructor. She has authored six books and contributed to many others. At the International Wood Arts Festival, Desiree’s project will be a sitting bear cub.
The doors were open to the public and many people showed up to show support and feast their eyes to some of the best artist the Midwest has to offer.
We have all types of artist who create wonderful pieces, all of them from wood.
On display were everything from bowls, spoons, caricatures, animals and even antlers.
If you missed the show this year, we hope you take the time to stop on by next year. It will be a pleasure to meet you and who knows, you might be our newest club member!
